Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server Version 7 * * users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: UTF-8 encoded post data is not handled * * correctly. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** If a request includes UTF-8 post data, which is not URL encoded, and the target resource accesses the post data as parameters; the UTF-8 data will not be decoded correctly and as a result data can be lost.
Problem conclusion
The WebContainer code has been modified, when processing parameters, to detect non URL encoded UTF-8 post data and include it in the parameter values. However, to enable this function a WebContainer custom property must be set: com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.parseUTF8PostData= true (default:false) The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.15.
