Error description

NullPointerException is thrown from the following
TransactionServiceDetailActionGen

The issue was reported in a WebSphere Extended Deployment
environment

Steps to recreate are as follows.

1. login to administrative console.
2. click Servers > Clusters > Dynamic clusters > cluster name >
Server template > Container Settings > Container Services >
Transaction Service
3. uncheck "Enable transaction coordination authorization"
4. click OK

When trying to save changes made to Transaction Service
templates a NullPointerException occurred in
TransactionServiceDetailActionGen.

This problem occurred for either of the following situations:

1. In a WebSphere Application Server environment you make
changes to Transaction Service settings for server templates
from the Administrative Console by selecting
Servers -> Server Types -> WebSphere application servers
Select templates...
template -> Container Services -> Transaction Service

2. In an WebSphere Virtual Enterprise environment (part of
Extended Deployment) you make changes to Transaction Service
settings for dynamic cluster templates from the Administrative
Console by selecting
Servers -> Clusters -> Dynamic clusters -> cluster
From additional Properties, select Server template ->
Container Services -> Transaction Service

The root cause was that class
TransactionServiceDetailActionGen did not allow for the
difference in handling a server and template configuration
when determining the version of the template being edited and
created a null object. Subsequently, an attempt was made to
invoke a method on this object resulting in the
NullPointerException.

Problem conclusion

The Transaction Service has been changed so that the correct
configuration files will be handled when saving changes to
Transaction Service templates.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.15.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
