Error description

Certificate authentication fails because of spaces in
distinguished name

Description: During certificate authentication, the subjectDN
field is retrieved from the certificate and looked up in LDAP.
A problem exists which causes virtual member manager (VMM) to
add spaces to the DN before looking the user up.  As a result,
the user is not found.

For example, if the certificate filter is:
certsubjectName=${SubjectDN}

Instead of looking up the user this way:
certsubjectName=cn=Bob Smith,ou=companyunit,o=company

It looks up the user this way:
certsubjectName=cn=Bob Smith, ou=companyunit, o=company

Thus, the user is not found.

Thus, the user is not found.

Problem conclusion

Instead of using cert.getSubjectDN().getName() which is not a
good choice stated in the JavaDoc for
java.security.X509Certificate, the code will now use
cert.getIssuerX500Principal().getName().

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.1.0.39 and 7.0.0.17.  Please refer to the
