APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
When the Portlet-Container runtime option javax.portlet.actionScopedRequestAttributes is set to true, the WebSphere Application Server Portlet-Container sets a render-parameter with the action scope ID too early and causes the ActionResponse to be locked. Then no redirect can be made out of the processAction() method inside the Portlet. See JSR 286 PLT.12.3.1 Redirections and PLT.10.4.4.1 Action Scope ID Render Parameter.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V7.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When the Portlet-Container runtime * * option * * javax.portlet.actionScopedRequest * * Attributes is set to true, a portlet * * cannot send a redirect in an action * * method. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When the Portlet-Container runtime option javax.portlet.actionScopedRequestAttributes is set to true, the WebSphere Application Server Portlet-Container sets a render-parameter with the action scope ID too early and causes the ActionResponse to be committed. Then no redirect can be made out of the processAction() method inside the Portlet. See JSR 286 PLT.12.3.1 Redirections and PLT.10.4.4.1 Action Scope ID Render Parameter.
Problem conclusion
With this fix, the action scope id render parameter is set after invocation of the portlet's action method and also only if a redirect hasn't been triggered. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.15.
