Error description
When using the manageprofiles command in Windows OS, the following validation error may be found in the Profile_create.log. This error causes the profile creation to fail. e.g. <message>Validation error for winserviceUserName: myDomain\myProfile.dmgr01 is not a valid service account or password does not match. </message> The validation failure comes from the validateuser command during creation when a NULL string terminator on the domain names for domain users is missing.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server on Microsoft Windows operating * * systems * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The validateuser.exe intermittently * * fails in some scenarios. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The utility "validateuser.exe" is used during profile creation on Microsoft Windows operating systems to validate parameters for running the server as a service. In some circumstances, a null terminator might be missing from the variable where the domain of the user is stored, causing validation to fail, and preventing profile creation.
Problem conclusion
The code for "validateuser.exe" was updated so the correct domain string is used when attempting to authenticate. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.17.
