APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When using "wsadmin -conntype none" to run the following command
  to
  validate LDAP connection parameters:
  
  $AdminTask validateLDAPConnection {-type IDS -baseDN
  o=name.com -hostname
  hostname.ibm.com -port 389 -sslEnabled false}
  
  The following error is returned:
  
  WASX7120E:
  
  Diagnostic information from exception with text
  "java.lang.NullPointerException: java.lang.NullPointerException
  " follows:
  
   java.lang.NullPointerException
     at
  com.ibm.ws.security.util.ConfigUtils.variableMapExpand(ConfigUti
  ls.java:
  338)
  
  This command should not be able to be run within local mode,
  this APAR will keep a NullPointerException from occurring but
  the command will be required to be run within 'connected' mode.
  

Local fix

• Run the command in connected mode, the command is not supported
  within 'local' mode because it uses runtime code, the server
  needs to be running and connected

  There was an unchecked field in our code that is null using
  conntype none. This field is now checked and not accessed when
  using conntype none.
  

Problem conclusion

• The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
  fix pack 7.0.0.17 and 6.1.0.39.  Please refer to the
