APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Persistence manager relies on value equality (.hashCode() and
.equals()) of local entity wrappers, which is not currently
    guaranteed by the EJB container.
Note: the wrapper manager cache size is proportional to
the EJB cache size, so increasing the EJB cache size will reduce
    the chances of problems occurring.

Local fix

  • Target to be fixed in next release.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Local entity beans are referenced by proxy objects that
delegate to actual bean instances. The EJB container
maintains proxy objects in a "wrapper cache" that has a
least-recently used eviction policy. The persistence manager
component was relying on value equality (.hashCode and
.equals) of local entity proxy objects in order to remove
entities from inverse container-managed relationship lists, but
the EJB container does not implement value equality for local
entity proxy objects. If a container-managed relationship
list contains a proxy object that has been evicted from the
wrapper cache, and a remove is run on a different proxy
object for the same entity, then the stale proxy object is not
removed from the list. Subsequent attempts to iterate over
the list or to remove the containing entity result in
    erroneous NoSuchEntityException.

The rate of eviction from the wrapper cache is directly
correlated to the size of the EJBCache. In general, only
long-running transactions will cause a problem.

Problem conclusion

  • The EJB container has been updated to implement value equality
    of local proxy objects.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.1.0.37 and 7.0.0.17. Please refer to the
