    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Memory leak in application restart in *
    *                      WebSphere Commerce                      *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The leak happens when WebSphere Application Server code
    (which is not loaded by the application classloader) keeps a
    reference to an application class.
    As there is an "external" reference to an application class,
    which at the same time points to its classloader (application
    classloader), there is a strong "live" reference to the
    classloader and it cannot be garbage collected.

Problem conclusion

  • The memory leak has been fixed by changing the reference to
    the context classloader to a WeakReference.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 7.0.0.17. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
