APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
When a proxy is configured, the JAX-RPC client sends outbound request though proxy server. However, after receiving a 302 redirect response, the redirect request was sent to the remote server directly and the proxy server was bypassed.
Local fix
no workaround
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server V6.1 and * * V7.0 users of JAX-RPC Web services clients * * using proxy server. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A redirect request is sent to a remote * * server directly even though there is a * * proxy server configured. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Install a fix pack that includes this APAR. * **************************************************************** When HTTP redirect is enabled, and a proxy server is configured, the JAX-RPC runtime sends the redirect request to the remote server directly.
Problem conclusion
The fix for this will be to provide a JVM custom property that will allow the redirect request to be sent through proxy server. The property is com.ibm.ws.webservices.HttpRedirectWithProxy. This is a JVM property and should be set to true so that the redirect request will be sent through proxy server. This property is false by default. The Information Center has an article titled "Configuring the JVM" which has more details on how to set JVM properties. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.1.0.39 and 7.0.0.19.
