APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
This APAR will help by reducing the trace string so that the trace does not consume as much disk space.
Local fix
none - trace is hard coded in the migration wizard If migrating manaully you may change the trace string directly in the waspreupgrade or waspostupgrade commands
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V7.0 Migration Management GUI Tool * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The GUI does not allow the TRACE * * setting to be changed. For large * * migration this can use up alot of * * disk space. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Using the command line tools allows you to * * tailor the trace settings. * **************************************************************** The Migration Management Tool does not allow the trace setting to be changed and the migration code is set by default to have all trace written out. This adds way too much unneeded information to the trace files and they grow extremely large using up a lot of disk space.
Problem conclusion
As a partial fix for this problem we have changed the default trace setting so as to remove some very low level trace information which does not contribute to the trace log when debugging migration problems. An additional fix to have the GUI allow the user to set the trace level will be provided in a future release. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.19.
