Error description

As the value in the SMF1209CX field (zAAP dispatch time) gets
very close to zero, the number may end up being posted as a
negative value erroneously.

Local fix

Treat negative numbers in the SMF1209CX field as zero for any
calculations made with the data.

The SM1209CX field in SMF 120 subtype 9 records for WebSphere
Application Server z/OS indicates the elapsed time used on
zIIP/zAAP processors. Due to rounding errors in the way this
field is calculated, it is possible for the initial usage to
be larger than the final usage, resulting in underflow that
produces an extremely large value for SM1209CX.

Problem conclusion

The calculation of SM1209CX has been updated to reduce
rounding inaccuracies and to protect against any possible
underflow.

APAR PM33650 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.19 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0.
