Error description

  • Product Version:  7.0.0.13
    OS and Additional Information:
    Linux, version 2.6.18-194.17.4.el5

    A Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) application cancels a
    pending INVITE request. The SIP Container immediately
    responds on this request with a 200 OK response. However,
    after that, the SIP Container should generate a new CANCEL
    request and send it to the client. The CANCEL request is
    rejected with a 430 error.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) users *
    * of IBM WebSphere Application Server V7.0 *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The server sends out an INVITE from *
    * one local port, followed by a CANCEL *
    *                      from a different local port.            *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The problem occurs in an environment where the SIP container
    is listening to two (or more) different ports over the same
    network protocol.
    The application sends out an INVITE request, and then sends
    out a CANCEL. Because of a bug in the SIP container, each
    request is being sent from a different local port.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem is fixed in the SIP container. With this fix, the
    CANCEL is sent from the same local port as the INVITE.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 7.0.0.19. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
