  • Manually updating the cachespec.xml in the profile's
    installedApps tree may not be picked up by servlet caching after
    application deployment.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED:  All users of IBM WebSphere Application      *
    *                  Server V8.0 using servlet caching and       *
    *                  manually updating the cachespec.xml in the  *
    *                  installedApps directory.                    *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Modifications to the cachespec.xml in   *
    *                      the installedApps directory are not     *
    *                      recognized by the dynacache service.    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The API used by dynacache to obtain the installed path of an
    application is vaguely defined.  Dynacache needs to use a more
    reliable API to obtain a consistent binaries path to the
    application.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The Dynacache service has been modified to use the correct API
    to obtain the directory where the application's binaries are
    installed on the file system.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.0.0.1.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
