  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This fix addresses the following        *
  *                      problems that occur while using Web     *
  *                      Server Plug-ins Configuration Tool.     *
  *                      1) Plug-in configuration fails when a   *
  *                      user is trying to configure an IHS web  *
  *                      server but the user is not privileged   *
  *                      to update its httpd.conf configuration  *
  *                      file.                                   *
  *                      2) Lotus Domino Web Server V7 is not    *
  *                      supported but listed on the wizard      *
  *                      page                                    *
  *                      as an available option.                 *
  *                      3) After completing a web server plug-  *
  *                      in configuration for either Lotus       *
  *                      Domino Web Server or Microsoft          *
  *                      Internet                                *
  *                      Information Services, the generated     *
  *                      response file contains a wrong          *
  *                      platform                                *
  *                      architecture info.                      *
  *                      4) On the web server selection page of  *
  *                      the wizard, the "Back" button is        *
  *                      enabled but without any meaningful      *
  *                      function.                               *

  * RECOMMENDATION:  Apply the fix pack to address the above     *
  *                  problems.                                   *

  1) The Web Server Plug-ins Configuration Tool assumed that its
  users have a privilege to update the web server configuration
  files and did not perform a relevant validation.
  2) It was communicated that Lotus Domino Web Server V7 is not
  supported in V8 but the fix could not make it into the GM
  release due to time constraint.
  3) This was an undetected bug in the code during
  development/testing.
  4) This was also missed during visual inspection/testing.
  

Problem conclusion

• 1) Now, the validation on the users' permission for updating
  the
  web server configuration files is in place. If the user does
  not
  have a proper right, an error message is displayed with an
  explanation of possible causes and the configuration steps are
  prevented from moving forward until the issue is addressed by
  the user.
  2) This was fixed by removing the choice of Lotus Domino Web
  Server V7 from the web server selection page.
  3) The platform architecture determining logic for the
  mentioned
  web servers has been corrected so that a right architecture
  info
  is written to the response file.
  4) The non functioning "Back" button on the first wizard page
  has been disabled.
  
  APAR PM38957 is currently targeted for inclusion in
  Service Level (Fix Pack) 8.0.0.1 of WebSphere
  Application Server.  Refer to URL:
