APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A WebSphere Application Server .ear with an embedded resource
adapter cannot be cleanly uninstalled. Specifically, the jar
containing the adapter code cannot be deleted.

This can cause problems when the application is updated. For
example, a ClassNotFoundException can occur for a class in the
application when the updated application is started.

    ****************************************************************
During serialization of recovery data about the embedded
resource adapter, the transaction service may create a
classloader. This classloader is never disposed, which
prevented the archive used to load the classes from being
deleted during update or deletion of the application.

Problem conclusion

  • This APAR ensures that the classloader is always disposed if
it was created by the transaction service.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.21 and 8.0.0.2. Please refer to the Recommended
