Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.0.0.0 migrating an application * * from WebSphere Application Server V6.1 with * * the Feature Pack for EJB 3.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Migrating an application from a V6.1 * * Application Server with the Feature * * Pack for EJB 3.0 causes an error due to * * XMI files. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** WebSphere Application Server, during application deployment, generates bindings and extensions files using an XML schema instead of an XMI schema. The following error will occur in the FFDC logs: FFDC Exception:com.ibm.websphere.management.application .client.AppDeploymentException SourceId:com.ibm.ws.management.application.client.AppI nstallHelper.checkForXmiFiles ProbeId :1322 Reporter:java.lang.Class@55e33682 com.ibm.websphere.management.application.client.AppDeploymentExc eption: ADMA0208E: The Enterprise Archive (EAR) contains an unsupported xmi format bindings or extensions file. at com.ibm.ws.management.application.client.AppInstallHelper.checkF orXmiFiles (AppInstallHelper.java:1321) at com.ibm.ws.management.application.client.AppInstallHelper.checkF orEE5Restr ictions(AppInstallHelper.java:511) at com.ibm.ws.management.application.client.AppInstallHelper.checkF orEE5Restr ictions(AppInstallHelper.java:476) at com.ibm.ws.management.application.client.AppInstallHelper.getApp Deployment Info(AppInstallHelper.java:562) When migrating an application from WebSphere Application Server V6.1 with the eature Pack for EJB 3.0, it is possible for an EJB3.0 module to contain XMI-style bindings and extensions files. When this application is migrated to the WebSphere Application Server V8.0.0.0, XMI-based bindings and extensions files are no longer used for EJB3.0 modules. The existence of both XML-based and XMI-based bindings and extensions files is not valid.
Problem conclusion
During application migration, XMI-based bindings and extensions files are now removed and any subsequent bindings and extensions information is saved using XML-based files. The information previously contained in the XMI-based files will need to be repopulated. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.0.0.1.
