Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server Network Deployment edition * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Core Group membership updates are not * * processed properly. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When a server is created or deleted, the core group membership is updated to add or remove the server. One core group member distributes the updated membership to other members. If the server distributing the membership dies in the middle of the update, this may result in inconsistent membership across the surviving core group members.
Problem conclusion
Core group memberships can become inconsistent across the set of core group members for a variety of reasons, such as nodes not being properly synchronized with the deployment manager. Code already exists to resolve core group membership inconsistencies, but is not handling the current scenario properly. The algorithm to apply core group membership changes has been changed. This allows the inconsistent core group membership recovery code to function properly in all scenarios. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.1.0.41, 7.0.0.19 and 8.0.0.1.
