APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • There are concurrency exceptions when multiple business-level
application (BLA) commands are run programatically. The
results returned for some commands are the results of other
commands. In one instance a listCompUnits command will get the
results of getBLAStatus causing a ClassCastException. In other
situations, the results in listCompUnit do not contain all
the data, or addCompUnit returns the wrong result. All of
these appear to be the wrong result being returned and it is
from a subsequent or another Command request.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Randomly generated asynchronized task instance IDs are not
unique if they are created within the same millisecond. When
this happens, the result returned from one AdminTask command
could be the result of another AdminTask command. A
subsequent usage of the command result could cause an
exception being thrown or other unwanted behaviors. For
example, a ClassCastException is thrown if an AdminTask
listCompUnits command gets the results of an AdminTask
    getBLAStatus.

Problem conclusion

  • To prevent duplicated task instance ID generation, added a
code implementation that handles multiple task instance ID
generation requests coming within a millisecond.
