Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A WebSphere Application Server for * * z/OS server instance stops taking * * work when using Session Initiation * * Protocol (SIP). * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** A memory leak in the WebSphere Application Server for z/OS server instance causes the server to stop taking work after a period of time. Memory is leaked each time a new Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) session is created. Eventually a java/lang/OutOfMemoryError will be thrown and the servant region will not accept new work. The java/lang/OutOfMemoryError can be seen in the servant region output.
Problem conclusion
Code was added to free references to the obtained storage in the SIP path, avoiding the memory leak. APAR PM39746 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service Level (Fix Pack) 8.0.0.1 of WebSphere Application Server V8.0. Please refer to URL: //www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=404&uid=swg27006970 for Fix Pack availability.
