Error description
Even after configuring the datasource to use Oracle11gDataStoreHelper for Oracle 11g JDBC driver, the SystemOut.log contains the following warning message due to a ClassNotFoundException that can be noticed in the FFDC logs. [3/24/11 13:38:01:414 EDT] 00000017 InternalOracl W DSRA7041W: You must use the Oracle11gDataStoreHelper class or a subclass of that data store helper when you configure a data source to use this JDBC driver: Oracle 11g JDBC driver [3/24/11 13:38:01:416 EDT] FFDC Exception:java.lang.ClassNotFoundException SourceId:com.ibm.ws.rsadapter.AdapterUtil.isInstance ProbeId:1804 java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.ibm.websphere.rsadapter.Oracle11gDataStoreHelper at java.lang.Class.forNameImpl(Native Method) at java.lang.Class.forName(Class.java:169) at com.ibm.ws.rsadapter.AdapterUtil.isInstance (AdapterUtil.java:2415) at com.ibm.ws.rsadapter.spi.InternalOracleDataStoreHelper .gatherAndDisplayMetaDataInfo (InternalOracleDataStoreHelper.java:658) at com.ibm.ws.rsadapter.spi.WSRdbDataSource .postGetConnectionHandling(WSRdbDataSource.java:2536) at com.ibm.ws.rsadapter.spi.WSRdbDataSource .getConnection(WSRdbDataSource.java:2481) at com.ibm.ws.rsadapter.spi.WSManagedConnectionFactoryImpl .createManagedConnection (WSManagedConnectionFactoryImpl.java:1606) This happens to Oracle helper class only.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V7.0 and V8.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Incorrect warning message "DSRA7041W" * * is printed in the logs due to * * ClassNotFoundException * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When there are getConnection() requests during the server startup, for postGetConnectionHandling we attempt to determine whether the right external datastore helper class has been configured for the Oracle 11g datasource. We attempt to load the class Oracle11gDataStoreHelper using the current thread context classloader and it is here we get the ClassNotFoundException. Due to this exception we print an incorrect warning message. "DSRA7041W: You must use the Oracle11gDataStoreHelper class..."
Problem conclusion
WebSphere database connectivity code has been updated to resolve the ClassNotFoundException. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 7.0.0.21 & 8.0.0.2.
