Error description
WebSphere Application Server version 8.0 users will not be able to start their applications due to an InjectionConfigurationException. The error message (CWWJP0041E) identifies the bean in the war module of the application containing the conflicting configuration data. The message also identifies the conflicting attribute values. If the conflict is due to conflicting attribute values originating from an annotation, the message will identify the annotation (@PersistenceContext, @PersistenceUnit) where the problem originated.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server version 8.0 utilizing Web * * Applications containing EJBs where the * * attribute values contained in its * * @PersistenceContext or @PersistenceUnit * * annotations are overriden in the EJB * * descriptor. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Web applications fail to start due to * * an InjectionConfigurationException * * that results in error CWWJP0041E. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The software responsible for managing the metadata contained in the @PersistenceContext and @PersistenceUnit annotations failed to consult the EJB descriptor for overrides prior to providing the web descriptor to the injection engine.
Problem conclusion
The software responsible for managing the metadata contained in the @PersistenceContext and @PersistenceUnit annotations now consults the EJB descriptor for overrides prior to providing the web descriptor to the injection engine. A work-round is to check the EJB Deployment Descriptor for a these values and then manually inject a <persistence-unit-ref> or <persistence-context-ref> stanza into the web deployment descriptor. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.0.0.2.
