Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server V8.0 users *
    *                  of javax.annotation.ManagedBean             *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The @Resource annotation for data *
    * sources causes an exception when *
    * creating an instance of the bean. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Beans annotated with javax.annotation.ManagedBean do not have
    their own component namespace stored on a thread local, but the
    resource-ref infrastructure relies on thread local data being
    available to describe the resource reference. When this data
    was not found, an exception was thrown.

Problem conclusion

  • The resource reference handling for beans annotationed
    javax.annotation.ManagedBean was changed to serialize
    the resource reference data with the injection object
    factory rather than attempting to find it in a thread local.
