APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
The heartbeat time out drops a server from the view. HA Manager then tries to recover, but recovery is abnormal due to the fact that the JVMs are still unresponsive. The abnormal recovery timings lead to the following issue on the coordinator while rebuilding state. Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server, Network Deployment edition * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: HMGR5003E message is logged during * * Replication Service failover due to * * servers starting or stopping * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When replication failover occurs, the replication service (DRS) may abandon existing replica instances and create new replica instance as part of recovery. The replication service uses HA Manager to create or destroy these instances, so the HA Manager must forward the information related to creating or dsstroying replicas to the the HA Coordinator. The "new instance" message may arrive at the HA Coordinator when the HA Coordinator is not expecting it.
Problem conclusion
Changed the HA Coordinator to correctly process the "new instance" message. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.1.0.41, 7.0.0.19 and 8.0.0.1.
