  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Customers using WebSphere Application Server version 8.0 may
    encounter an org.apache.openjpa.persistence.ArgumentException
    during the JPA pre-cleaning process. This can occur due the
    incorrect injection of overidden references specified with
    @PersistenceContext and @PersistenceUnit annotations within a
    Web Application.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The software responsible for managing the metadata contained
    in the @PersistenceContext and @PersistenceUnit annotations
    failed to recognize injection overrides. This results in
    incorrect injection targets being passed to the injection
    engine.

Problem conclusion

  • An internal component for processing annotations was updated
    to properly recognize injection overrides from annotations.

    A work around is possible by editing the web descriptor so
    that it contains the <persistence-unit> or
    <persistence-context> stanzas with the desired injection
    target(s).

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.0.0.1. Please refer to the Recommended
