Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server version 8.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If a binding or value of an * * application's environment entry is * * provided through an XML bindings file * * associated with an enterprise * * application or module, the * * binding/value is not recognized * * during the deployment of an * * application. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** If a binding or value of an application's environment entry is provided through an XML bindings file associated with an enterprise application or module, the binding/value is not recognized during the deployment of an application. A validation message similar to the following is reported even though the deployment is successful: ADMA0219E: A validation error occurred in task "Map environment entries for EJB modules.". The value for environment entry java:app/env/ejb-jar/env-entry-integer for EJB TestBean in module testejb.jar is missing.
Problem conclusion
A new Java Virtual Machine custom property is provided to support the use of bindings to specify a value for an environment entry. com.ibm.websphere.management.application.client.EnvEntry_process Bindings Use this property to specify how an environment entry value is handled during an application deployment. If this property is not specified or has a value of false, an environment entry value is read from and written to the deployment descriptor. Any environment entry value specified in the XML bindings is ignored. If this property is specified with a value of true, an environment entry value specified in the XML bindings is preferred over the value specified in the deployment descriptor. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.0.0.2.
