Error description

An EJB JAR which contains no deployment descriptor
(ejb-jar.xml), which contains valid EJB annotations, but which
also contains any files with the ".ser" extension cannot
currently be deployed as EJB JAR files.

When deploying an EAR containing an EJB JAR file you get the
following message:
"The EAR file could be corrupt and/or incomplete. Make sure
that the application is at a compatible Java(TM) Platform,
Enterprise Edition (Java EE) level for the current version of
WebSphere(R) Application Server."
This occurs when the EJB JAR module does not contain a
deployment descriptor but contains annotations and at least
one ".ser" file.
If the EAR contains other valid EJB JAR modules you will not
get the error message displayed above.  However, the EJB JAR
files that meet the above conditions will not be recognized as
EJB JAR modules. Rather they will be recognized as ordinary
java JAR files.

Problem conclusion

In this fix, the code is modified to not check for ".ser"
files in the EJB JAR file.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 7.0.0.21 and 8.0.0.2. Please refer to the
