Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V6.1, V7.0, and V8.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Accessing PerfServlet with * * "version=5"compatibility mode, causes * * the following exception in certain * * cases especially for webservices * * where "{" and "}" tags are common * * name --> perfservlet.exception value * * --> java.lang.Exception: * * Invalid tag name: * * {http://xxxx.com/webservices/}webservic * * es * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The error occurs due to the fact that the perfServlet fetches performance details for the server and then prints data in XML format. We try to create an XML Element as part of printing data in XML. Things works fine until a Tag which is not recognized is encountered, in which case perfServlet fails to idenitfy the Invalid Tag and dumps an Exception failing to output performance details collected.
Problem conclusion
In order to avoid this problem, those invalid tags are excluded or replaced with valid symbols, eliminating the possiblity of any exceptions while creating the Element and allowing for successful printing of perfServlet Data in XML format. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.1.0.41, 7.0.0.21 and 8.0.0.2 .
