Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the OSGi application feature * * of * * IBM WebSphere Application Server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A NullPointerException during * * configuration update can cause config * * updates to web application to not be * * reflected at runtime. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The config update path maintains digest records of configuration files so that it can determine whether the configuration for a web application bundles has changed (and remove spurious changes that BLA generates). In certain edge cases a modified event can be received for a document that was not previously digested and in that case the following NPE occurs. The fix handles the edge cases more gracefully. java.lang.NullPointerException at java.security.MessageDigest.isEqual(MessageDigest.java:251) at com.ibm.ws.osgi.javaee.extender.ConfigUpdateHandler.handleGlobal ConfigChange(ConfigUpdateHandler.java:226) at com.ibm.ws.osgi.javaee.extender.ConfigUpdateHandler.handleSessio nManagementChange(ConfigUpdateHandler.java:215) at com.ibm.ws.osgi.javaee.extender.ConfigUpdateHandler.handleConfig Change(ConfigUpdateHandler.java:133)
