Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Using the drag drop (monitored * * directory deployment) to update a * * full application. Application was * * updated successfully but deploy * * target is not set in deployment.xml * * and it causes the application to fail * * to start. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** After updating an application through the monitored directory deployment, the application failed to start because no deployment target was set in the deployment.xml file.
Problem conclusion
It is a bug in the properties file based configuration code that missed setting the deployment target in deployment.xml when a war file is deployed via the drag drop deployment service. It causes application start failure after the application is deployed or updated. Code has been corrected to set the deployment target. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.0.0.2.
