APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • 1. Some jython scripts may be modified by customers. These
modifications are overwritten when fix pack 8.0.0.1 is
    installed.
    2. If customer specified environmental variables which are
invalid for bourne shell on iSeries, this would fail the
non-serviceable file backup mechanism. Thus the operation
should be failed if such environmental variables exist.

    ****************************************************************
    1. Non-serviceable Jython scripts may be replaced when fixpacks
are installed. If customers have modified them then their
    changes are overwritten.
    2. There is non-serviceable files backup and restore logic.
Environmental variables which are invalid for bourne shell on
iSeries fails this logic. However, it does not fail the
fix pack install operation and had customer's changes
    overwritten.

Problem conclusion

  • 1. Non-serviceable Jython scripts will be backed up and restored
before and after fix packs are installed so that customer's
    changes will not be overwritten.
    2. When there are invalid bourne shell environment variables
detected, the fix pack installation will fail and prompt
you to remove it before installing fix packs.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 8.0.0.2. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
