Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Stack Products using the IBM WebSphere * * Application Server v8 MachineChange option * * of the migration tool. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Certain Stack Product variables are * * getting updated during a * * MachineChange migration. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** If a variable is used as part of defining the location of an Embedded Derby Database or a shared library which needs to be gathered and relocated during a migration, the variables may be updated to reflect the new location. However, stack products may have already updated these variables.
Problem conclusion
Extended the migration framework to allow Stack Products to register variables which should be ignored when processing the paths which contain them. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.0.0.2. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980
Temporary fix
Reapply the wsadmin command which changed the variable after the migration has completed. Fix up any paths which may have changed.
