APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
When a policy set is applied to a JAX-WS client at the service level or below, and the code for that client spans more than one jar or war file, the policy set might not take effect. The policy set will work normally when applied at the application level. A trace of com.ibm.ws.policyset.*=all will show policy components associated with different jar files so policies are not applied: .... resourceName=WebService:/EBCInterFace.jar:{ http://ebc.com/}CustomerLookupServiceService/ CustomerLookupServicePort/Sandesha2OperationOutIn/, resourcePattern=WebService:/EBCClientImpl.jar:{http://ebc .com/}CustomerLookupServiceService/ ....

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V7.0 and V8.0 using JAX-WS clients * * with policy sets * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Client policy set might not take * * effect. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Install a fix pack containing this APAR. * **************************************************************** When a policy set is applied to a JAX-WS client at the service level or below, and the code for that client spans more than one archive file, the policy set might not take effect. The policy set will work normally when applied at the application level.
Problem conclusion
The code is modified to accept an optional JVM property, com.ibm.ws.websvcs.relaxClientPolsetMatching=true. When this parameter is set to true, and if no match is found, an additional matching attempt will be made that does not consider archive file names. For more details on how to set the JVM property, refer to the article "Java virtual machine custom properties" in the Information Center for your WebSphere Application Server version and operating system. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 7.0.0.23 and 8.0.0.3 Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980
