Error description

  • WebSphere Application Server V7.0 if you create a profile in a
    directory that has "cells" in it ... for example I created
    one in c:\temp\cells... when you go to the administrative
    console to look at the SSL certs for instance you just try and
    look at the certs in your default key.p12 file it will just
    show a screen that implies there is nothing in there. Same
    thing happens when you try and look at the contents of your
    default trust.p12. This only happens when you put the profile
    in a directory that has "cells" in the directory/path name.

Local fix

  • Do not put your profiles in a direcrory that has cells in it

    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application *
    *                  Server V7.0 and V8.0                        *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Personal certificates might not be *
    * listed if the keystore file location *
    *                      is a non-default location.              *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    There is a code path to constuct a path name which locates a
    file underneath the workspace directory. This code path takes
    the first match of string "/cells/" to split a given path name
    under the assumption of the first match of "/cells/" would be
    next to CONFIG_ROOT. However, if CONFIG_ROOT contains a string
    of "/cells/", then the first match is not the correct path name
    of CONFIG_ROOT. In this case, the last match is the correct
    one.

Problem conclusion

  • With this fix, the code now uses the last match method to find
    the relative path from CONFIG_ROOT from a given absolute path.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 7.0.0.23 and 8.0.0.3. Please refer to the
