Error description

customer getting:
java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: The method

com.sybase.jdbc3.jdbc.SybResultSet.getBlob(String) is not
supported and should not be called.

when WebSphere Application Server makes a call to persisted
data using getBlob as it is unsupported in Sybase.

Local fix

Problem summary

*                      may be logged during session            *
*                      replication.                            *

* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

WebSphere Application Server session manager may use
java.sql.ResultSet.getBlob() method to retrieve data from the
sessions database. The method is not supported by the Sybase
JDBC driver.

Problem conclusion

When Sybase is used as the sessions database, WebSphere
Application Server session manager will ensure no unsupported
methods are used, such as java.sql.ResultSet.getBlob() method.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 7.0.0.23 and 8.0.0.4.  Please refer to the
