    * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server V8.0 users *
    * of Enterprise Java Beans (EJBs) *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Starting a module containing an EJB *
    *                      with a name containing a forward        *
    *                      slash will fail.                        *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When an EJB module is started, the EJB container must bind to
    the java:global namespace using the format
    java:global/APP/MOD/BEAN!INTERFACE. If the bean name contains
    a forward slash, the Java Name and Directy Interface (JNDI)
    bind operation will fail because forward slash is the
    delimiter. EJB names containing forward slashes are not
    permitted by the EJB specification.

Problem conclusion

  • The EJB container is updated to avoid binding to java:global
    if the EJB name contains a forward slash.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
