Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.0 using the built in Java * * Persistence API (JPA) implementation with * * a data/query cache that can serialize * * object keys. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A JPA operation fails with a * * NotSerializableException targeting * * QueryCacheStoreQuery$CachedObjectId * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** A datatype internal to OpenJPA that is used to retain object ids associated with a query cache was not serializable. Query caches not native to the OpenJPA distribution that can be configured to serialize object ids may fail with the following Exception: Caused by: java.io.NotSerializableException: org.apache.openjpa.datacache.QueryCacheStoreQuery$CachedObjectId at java.io.ObjectOutputStream.writeObject0(ObjectOutputStream.java: 1113) at java.io.ObjectOutputStream.writeArray(ObjectOutputStream.java:13 43) at java.io.ObjectOutputStream.writeObject0(ObjectOutputStream.java: 1107) at java.io.ObjectOutputStream.writeObject(ObjectOutputStream.java:3 25)
Problem conclusion
The OpenJPA internal type QueryCacheStoreQuery$CachedObjectId has been updated to be Serializable. This will permit query caches to serialize object ids. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.0.0.4.
