APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Trying to access the admin console after migrating a standalone
    server to V7 fails with
    Error 404:
    com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.servlet.exception.NoTargetForURIExceptio
    n: No target servlet configured for uri: /admin

    The admin console application should be mapped to the
    default_host for standalone servers but it was mapped to the
    admin_host instead, which is the correct mapping for ND
    environments.

    An error in the migration logic caused the incorrect mapping.

Local fix

  • There are 2 ways to get around the problem:

    1. Change the bindings for the isclite application by using the
    following scripting commands (example is in JACL)

     $AdminApp edit isclite {-MapWebModToVH {{.* .* default_host}}}
     $AdminConfig save

    2. Enable the transport chains for the admin_host and use the
    respective port number (9060 or 9043) in the URL.

    To enable the transport chains check the server.xml file in the
    <WAS_HOME>/profiles/default/config/cells/<cellname>/nodes/<noden
    ame>/servers/<servername>
    directory and find the entries for the 2 transport chains
    WCInboundAdmin and WCInboundAdminSecure, for example:

    <chains xmi:id="Chain_1184194176405" name="WCInboundAdmin"

    enable="false" ......./>
                                           and
    <chains xmi:id="Chain_1184194176407" name="WCInboundAdminSecure"
    enable="false" ......  />

    - Change the value from enable="false" to enable="true" for
       both of them.

    The file is in ASCII so you need an ascii editor to view and
    make the changes.

    - Save the file and restart the server.

    - To access the admin console use the port to which the admin
    console application has been bound (see appserver SR log for
    message

    SRVE0250I: Web Module isclite has been bound to
    admin_host[*:9060,*:9043]

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: On a z/OS standalone server, the *
    *                      administrative console becomes          *
    *                      unreachable after performing a          *

    * migration where the initial release *
    *                      was V6.0.1 or earlier.                  *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The virtual host for the administrative console used to be
    mapped to default_host. After v6.1 it was mapped to
    admin_host. However, certain conditions allowed the the
    default_host settings and enablement to be migrated forward
    from v6.0 and earlier. For the second migration, the
    enablements were migrated forward, and the defaults set the
    administrative console's virtual host to admin_host. These
    two conditions are incompatible and caused the administrative
    console to be unreachable.

Problem conclusion

  • Migration will now detect the previous condition of the
    enablement and bind the admin console's virtual host to the
    default_host.

    APAR PM57567 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Packs
    7.0.0.25, 8.0.0.4, and 8.5.0.1 of WebSphere Application Server.

    for Fix Pack availability.

Temporary fix

  • If you have already migrated, then on the new release
    execute the following two commands from a wsadmin prompt:

    $AdminApp edit isclite {-MapWebModToVH {{.* .* default_host}}}
    $AdminConfig save
