Error description

When cancelling a scheduler task that has empty or corrupted
TASKINFO entries in the scheduler table, the cancel operation
will fail and you might find the following exception:

com.ibm.ws.scheduler.exception.ByteSerializeException:
java.io.EOFException

When scheduler applications attempt to cancel a task that has
an empty or corrupted taskinfo blob field in the scheduler
table, the cancel() operation will fail with the following
exception:
com.ibm.ws.scheduler.exception.ByteSerializeException:
java.io.EOFException
Providing this apar as a convenience to recover from situations
where the scheduler taskinfo field can go empty due to
database environment issues like the APAR PM23846. Although
APAR PM23846 ensures that the TASKINFO does not go empty in
the future, there exists no easy mechanism to cleanup or
recover except to manually remove the corrupt tasks from the
scheduler task table.
This apar introduces a custom property named forceCancelTask
to be specified under scheduler custom properties and when set
to true, WebSphere Scheduler runtime handles the
ByteSerializeException during cancel of a task that contains
an empty TASKINFO field.
To enable this apar, define the Scheduler custom property from
the the administrative console by expanding the Resources,
then navigate to Scheduler/<scheduler name>/Custom
Properties
Name : forceCancelTask
Value : true
Type : String
Note : Enable this apar only in situations where the scheduler
TASK table contains empty TASKINFO values and disable the apar
once the corrupt tasks are removed.

Problem conclusion

The WebSphere Application Server scheduler code has been
updated to handle the exceptions due to empty taskinfo fields
and allow the cancel of the tasks.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.1.0.45, 7.0.0.25, 8.0.0.5 and 8.5.0.1.  Please
