Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When SPNEGO Web authentication is * * enabled, even though authentication * * is successful, a browser may get 401 * * status code. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When SPNEGO Web is enabled and "Allow fall back to application authentication mechanism" is set as true, if SPNEGO Web does not process the request, an original application authentication method should run a login process. But if the original application authentication is successful, WebSphere Application Server returns 401 reason code.
Problem conclusion
With this fix, SPNEGO Web authentication code no longer sets 401 status code when subsequent application authentication is successful. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.0.0.5, and 8.5.0.1.
