PM65308: WEBSPHERE APPLICATION SERVER HOSTING A MESSAGING ENGINE HANGS DURING SHUTDOWN

Error description

When an attempt is made to stop WebSphere Application Server
server that hosts a messaging engine, the server hangs.  The
messaging engine enters a stopping state but never stops.

Javacores show that the shutdown thread is stopped with the
following stack frames:

A race condition causes the ObjectManager's FlushHelper thread
to fail to shutdown when requested to do so.  This causes
the WebSphere Application Server server's shutdown thread to
hang.

Problem conclusion

This APAR eliminates the race condition to prevent the
possibility of this hang occurring.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 6.1.0.45, 7.0.0.25 and 8.0.0.5.  Please refer to the
