Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application *
    *                  Server V8.5 deploying Application Client    *
    *                  modules with @Resource annotations.         *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: @Resource annotations in an *
    * Application Client module are not *
    *                      recognized.                             *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    @Resources may be defined within the classes of an Application
    Client modules. These annotations should only be processed
    when they are attached to component classes of the module. By
    not processing all of these locations, the Application Client
    may not have all of its resources available to it.
    These components classes include:
    * Main-Class identified in the MANIFEST.MF (or a superclass)
    * The Callback Handler class identified in
    application-client.xml (or a superclass)
    * A class with @Resource that contains a @ManagedBean
    annotation in it (or a superclass)
    Resource annotations not located in one of the above described
    locations will not be processed.
    The deployment process will not prompt for binding
    information of these resources because they will not be
    recognized.

Problem conclusion

  • The module responsible for processing annotations in an
    Application Client was updated to correctly process the
    necessary component classes.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.5.0.1. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
