PM66803: ABENDD22 RC08 IN NODE AGENT WHEN STOPPING A WEBSERVER USING ADMINISTRATIVE CONSOLE

Error description

In this case, the webserver has a long installation directory.
This is used as part of the stop command for the webserver.  If
the command to stop the webserver is greater than 126
characters, the node agent will take an AbendD22 RC 08 when it
issues the stop command.  The admin console will hang waiting
for a response back from the node agent.  This can result in a
hung thread in the DMGR.

Local fix

Do not stop the webserver from the admin console if a long
installation directory is used.

When the command to stop the server is greater than 126
characters, the node agent will take an abend D22 reason code
8 in BBO_commands::terminate_Server when it calls MGCRE with
a command that is too long.

Problem conclusion

Changed the code to properly verify the length of the command.

APAR PM66803 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Packs
7.0.0.25, 8.0.0.5, and 8.5.0.1 of WebSphere Application Server.
