APAR status

Error description

• JPA applications do not appear to work after removing and then
  adding the jpa feature.  One of the potential error messages
  seen in the console.log is:
  
  [ERROR ? ? ? ? ] [TMService] Error during instantiation of the
  implementation object Bundle:com.ibm.tx.jta(id=28)
  java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Hook previously registered
  
  If the wab-1.0 feature is removed and then added then the
  applications that relied on this feature will not be restarted.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The JPA and WAB features cannot be      *
  *                      dynamically added or removed.           *

  WABs and applications using JPA are no longer accessible after
  removing and readding the wab-1.0 and the jpa-2.0 features
  respectively to the server.xml.  A server restart is required
  for the applications to begin functioning correctly once more.
  

Problem conclusion

• Applications were not being forced into restarting when a
  feature change occurred for the JPA feature.  For WABs,
  uninstallations were not completing during feature
  deactivation.
  
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
  fix pack 8.5.0.1. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page
