APAR status

Error description

  • When you login in to the WebSphere Application Server's
    administrative console, and then go to
    Security > Global security > Administrative User Role, the
    Login status for the user that you know you just logged on with
    shows "Not active".
    

Local fix

  • Removing backslash "\" from DN may provide some relief
    

Problem summary

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When you login in to the WebSphere      *
    *                      Application Server's administrative     *
    *                      console, the Login status for the       *
    *                      user that you know you just logged on   *
    *                      with shows "Not active".                *
    ****************************************************************

    The issue is the cn having a \ as well as logging in with the
    alternate ID. For example, in the LDAP
    repository, create an id like "cn=lastName\,
    firstName,o=ibm,c=us" with a uid=lastName. This allows them
    to login with the uid but the cn is what is displayed in the
    panel. For LDAP standalone, the name had double backslashes
    for display so we only need to remove the extra slash. For
    Federated using LDAP, the extra slash needed to be removed as
    well as calling listRegistryUsers to get  the name attribute
    to go with the accessId.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Removed the second \ when getting login status and call
    listRegistryUsers when the active registry is VMM using LDAP.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 7.0.0.27, 8.0.0.5, and 8.5.0.1.  Please refer to the
