APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When processing an element with xsi:nil="true" the JAXB
Unmarshaller may write a null value to the wrong field,
possibly overwriting data that had been previously written to
that field. The effect of overwriting a field with null is
    loss of data.

Local fix

  • Setting JVM property -Dcom.ibm.xml.xlxp.jaxb.opti.level=0 on the
server side on fixpack 21 can resolve the issue.

Problem conclusion

  • The IBM JAXB Unmarshaller generates stub classes at runtime to
assist in unmarshalling the document. These generated
stub classes were occasionally writing null values to the
wrong field in the application's class. This issue was
resolved by correcting the code generation logic within the
    JAXB Unmarshaller.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 7.0.0.25, 8.0.0.5 and 8.5.0.1. Please refer to the
