APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
Client has currently installed 8.0.0.2. They run JTZU (Java Time Zone Utility) against their Websphere installation. Then when they install fixpack 8.0.0.4 the file Websphere_Home/java/jre/lib/zi/Creston already exists. The Installation Manager tries to lay this file down and errors that the Creston file Alread Exists, failing the installation.
Local fix
If JTZU has been run before the upgrade, remove the Websphere_Home/java/jre/lib/zi/Creston file before running the fixpack upgrade.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.0 and V8.5 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When you run JTZU (Java Time Zone * * Utility) against your installation it * * would create file * * Websphere_Home/java/jre/lib/zi/Creston * * and will cause the fix pack install * * to fail as the file already exists. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Typically, WebSphere Application Server offering is not responsible for dealing with extra files that were created by users on update install. However, we decided to add new enhancement to overwrite JTZU file that is created by user to bypass the issue.
Problem conclusion
We will now overwrite the JTZU file that has been created, to bypass the issue. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.0.0.6 and 8.5.0.2.
