PM70935: INSTALLATION MANAGER DOES NOT OVERWRITE FILES PREVIOUSLY LAID DOWN BY RUNNING JTZU BEFORE INSTALLING FIX PACK 8.0.0.4

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Client has currently installed 8.0.0.2. They run JTZU
    (Java Time Zone Utility) against their Websphere installation.
    Then when they install fixpack 8.0.0.4 the file
    Websphere_Home/java/jre/lib/zi/Creston already exists. The
    Installation Manager tries to lay this file down and errors that
    the Creston file Alread Exists, failing the installation.
    

Local fix

  • If JTZU has been run before the upgrade, remove the
    Websphere_Home/java/jre/lib/zi/Creston file before running the
    fixpack upgrade.

    Typically, WebSphere Application Server offering is not
    responsible for dealing with extra files that were created by
    users on update install. However, we decided to add new
    enhancement to overwrite JTZU file that is created by user to
    bypass the issue.
    

Problem conclusion

  • We will now overwrite the JTZU file that has been created, to
    bypass the issue.
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 8.0.0.6 and 8.5.0.2.  Please refer to the
    Recommended Updates page for delivery information:
