Error description

• A JPA query generated by the Criteria API fails when it is
  run. This is due to incorrect string length casted to VARCHAR.

  OpenJPA's Criteria API engine generated SQL that casted all
  literal strings to a VARCHAR(254).  When the literal string has
  a
  length greater then 254, this attempted cast will cause the SQL
  execution to fail.
  

Problem conclusion

• The Criteria API function has been updated to properly apply the
  correct string length to the VARCHAR cast when processing
  literal values.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
  fix pack 8.0.0.5 and 8.5.0.2.  Please refer to the Recommended
