Error description

  • After migrating from v6.1 to v7.0, the migration process seems
to have changed the location of the http server plugin
configuration file and logs from our custom path to the default
    path.

Before Migration, In websphere v6.1 the path to the plugin
config, log files are for e.g:
    /web/shared/xxyyzz/plugin-cfg.xml,
    /web/shared/xxyyzz/http_plugin.log

After the migration, the plugin file, log now points to
    /.../AppServer/profiles/default/config/cells/<cell_name>/nodes/<
    nodes_name>/servers/<server_name>/

Local fix

  • Delete the webserver in question from the admin console, and
    re-install the webserver.

    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After migrating a webserver, the *
    * custom paths to the http server *
    * plugin configuration files have been *
    * reset to their defaults. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
After migrating a webserver, the webserver's server.xml will
have had the paths to the plugin-cfg.xml, http_plugin.log, and
plugin-key.kdb reset to their default locations. This is not
an issue if the migration does not involve a webserver, or if
the paths to these configuration files have never been
    modified by the user.

Problem conclusion

  • The migration code for webservers has been updated to ensure
custom plugin configuration file settings are moved forward
    correctly from release to release.

APAR PM72607 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Packs
7.0.0.29, 8.0.0.6, and 8.5.0.2 of WebSphere Application Server.
