Error description

  • The addNode step of the WebSphere Application Server Migration
process may produce many org.xml.sax.SAXParseException error
messages in the Deployment Manager's logs when one or more
nodes contain applications with a portlet.xml resource.

    For example:

    [8/20/12 9:42:45:626 CDT] 000001b7 wtp E Failed to
    create document [
    public ID [ null ] and system ID [ null ] ] [
    org.xml.sax.SAXParseException:
cvc-complex-type.2.4.a: Invalid content was found starting
    with element
    expiration-cache. One of
    {"http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/portlet/portlet-app_2_0.xsd":in

    ****************************************************************
The addNode step of the WebSphere Application Server Migration
    process may produce org.xml.sax.SAXParseException error
messages in the Deployment Manager logs. This can occur when
applications installed on the migrating nodes contain
    META-INF/portlet.xml resources.
An example of the error message is below:
    [8/20/12 9:42:45:626 CDT] 000001b7 wtp E Failed to
    create document [
    public ID [ null ] and system ID [ null ] ] [
    org.xml.sax.SAXParseException:
cvc-complex-type.2.4.a: Invalid content was found starting
    with element
    expiration-cache. One of
    {"http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/portlet/portlet-app_2_0.xsd":in
    it-param,
    "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/portlet/portlet-
    app_2_0.xsd":caching
    ,
    "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/portlet/portlet-
    app_2_0.xsd":support
    s} is expected. ]
The addNode and overall migration operations complete
    successfully.

Problem conclusion

  • Schema validation of certain application metadata is enabled
during the migration process. The shipped version of
portlet-app_2_0.xsd is not correct and has been updated to
reflect the final revision of this document.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 8.0.0.6 and 8.5.0.1. Please refer to the
