Closed as program error.
Error description
When portlet container runtime option javax.portlet.actionScopedRequestAttributes is enabled, a NotSerializableException can appear in the SystemOut.log. This is beacuse the inner class CachedValue inside the FIFOMap class of Portlet Container is not declared to be serializable. Generates Exception similar to the following. WASSession E SessionContextMBeanAdapter findAttCausingNotSerializableException Miscellaneous data: Attribute "javax.portlet.p.Z7_D0JM3QAH2RKHF0I3PVKQNL0013?com.ibm.ws.portle tcontainer.core.action_scope_cache" is declared to be serializable but is found to generate exception "java.io.NotSerializableException" with message "com.ibm.ws.portletcontainer.util.FIFOMap$CachedValue".

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the Portlet Container in IBM * * WebSphere Application Server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A NotSerializableException for * * FIFOMap$CachedValue can * * appear in the SystemOut.log in case of * * action scoped request atts. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When a portlet uses the javax.portlet.actionScopedRequestAttributes runtime option in the portlet.xml and the portlet uses request.setAttribute() to pass objects between lifecycle phases, you can oberve in the logs the following entry appearing repetitively: [9/12/12 11:22:26:199 EDT] 0000006f WASSession E SessionContextMBeanAdapter findAttCausingNotSerializableException Miscellaneous data: Attribute "javax.portlet.p.Z7_D0JM3QAH2RKHF0I3PVKQNL0013?com.ibm.ws.portle tcontainer.core.action_scope_cache" is declared to be serializable but is found to generate exception "java.io.NotSerializableException" with message "com.ibm.ws.portletcontainer.util.FIFOMap$CachedValue". Fix the application so that the attribute "javax.portlet.p.Z7_D0JM3QAH2RKHF0I3PVKQNL0013?com.ibm.ws.portle tcontainer.core.action_scope_cache" is correctly serializable at runtime.
Problem conclusion
All attributes stored in a HttpSession need to be serializable. Therefore changes FIFOMap$CachedValue to implement java.io.Serializable. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.27, 8.0.0.6 and 8.5.0.2.
